They're Talking about You in Colorado

In the dailycamera. While the article's focus is on cyclists riding two abreast, almost as much vitriol is directed against "a couple riders who want to make a statement and ride in the middle of the lane." That quote from a person on a bike. The Colorado three-foot law set all this off, but very little of the article really has much to do with it. It does have a lot of perspective of the general public about cyclist lane positioning. Comments are typical for an article of this sort.

Oh, almost forgot, but it's one of my pet peeves - the Colorado law lets motorists cross the double yellow to pass a cyclist, unlike the Texas equivalent. In my experience, the Colorado law merely codifies typical practice due to the overuse of double yellow markings.

As a middle-of-the-lane rider, my "statement" is that I cannot trust other road users, specifically motor vehicle operators, to provide the consideration necessary for a safe ride. It then becomes my responsibility, which I gladly accept, to ensure that I am operating in the safest manner possible on a given roadway.
