Crimeny - I was thinking about doing a post on a bike route system failure (North Richland Hills), when along comes Summer and provides a darn good reason why the Dallas equivalent might not similarly fail from neglect.
That guy should really put a helmet on. I know it won't help him if he gets hit by a car, but should he happen to wash out a tire on that crappy photoshop filter, it could save him from a concussion. ;-)
Ironically, the intersection in the photo, Bike Route 85 at White Rock Lake Loop, has a missing left turn sign when going in the opposite direction.
I looked at the form, and it would be easier to complete if I could specify street intersections instead of street addresses. Nevertheless, it's nice to have a way of reporting missing signs to the City of Dallas.

This is a joke right? It isn't April 1st is it?
Calling Dallas 311 or filling out their web based form is a big failure. They don't do anything. I have filled out form after form (requesting a response) about detectors, road clean up and hazardous road conditions and exactly nothing was done. (Rocks stilll need to be cleaned up on Keller Springs that have been there for more than a year, the lights at Hillcrest and La Manga will not detact a bicycle when on La Manga... I know another person who lives near that intersection that was told by the Street department they they were afraid that a truck going down Hillcrest would trip the lights so they would not do anything about it).
The one and ONLY time I had a result was in the hazardous road condition where I had a wreck (a crack in the middle road consumed my front wheel to the rim), it was not until I contacted Saul Garza (Fox 4) 3 months later did I get any results... and the city made a temporary fix to the road the exact day that Saul call them (coincidence? I think not). I received a call from the street repair people that said they had planned the temporary repairs and planned the permanent fix and the ONLY thing they did wrong was not calling me to tell me their plans. What a joke. The "permanent" fix is still not satisfactory, but less a hazard.
A couple of days ago, I decided to use the 311 system again. The traffic light at Hillcrest and Alpha short cycles in the morning (less than 5 seconds to clip in and cross Hillcrest after detection). So their response?
"- detection has set to highest sensitivity, bicycles are hard to detect."
The placed a number to call Traffic Field Operations Office at 214 670-3264. But I let it ring 100 times at 9:15 this morning and no one answered (No voice mail... Nothing).
So... Who ya gonna' call? It really doesn't matter.
Call 214-671-8295.
