I took a really random route on home yesterday because I had to leave work late and traffic was a disaster everywhere. I happened to notice the Black Forest Bakery last night and was surprised at its location (next to a run-down pool hall and shady looking apartments). I noted to myself to look it up later. Long story short... I haven't heard of it before yesterday and now I want to go visit!
Henk's is open during day, but at night only on Friday and Saturday (with wacky German music played for an assortment of Eastern European, German, and Jewish ex-pats).
A Dutch family owns/runs it (two generations going on three). Good northern European fare (lot's of "German-ish" foods), great bakery, good beers, and a limited (but good, cold, cheap) beer on draught selection.
Pictures of bikes parked in Amsterdam on the wall.

This looks like a train station in Amsterdam. Except without the trampoline. :)
Eliot, speaking of bikes and Amsterdam and Dallas... ever been to Henk's?
Funny you should ask!
