What's it going to take to get these crews to get off the small paths and back on the road? I always feel sorry for the kids and families at the lake...
AH, yes. The Tuesday or Thursday AM ride around White Rock Lake. I quit that thing years ago. Why? Because it wasn't safe, it promoted unlawful activity, and it harbored ill will between cyclists and other users. But to hear our Greater Dallas Elders, you'd have them think that that is where they really, really want us! Operate another type of vehicle in this way, on this trail, and you'll get a ticket.
I fear for the day when it's all going to come down to 12mph trails....

Well, when this began, Lawther Drive was a continuous, 2-way road around the lake. The peloton would use Mockingbird Lane and Garland Road for the east/west connections. But the Park Department, in its ongoing efforts to get cyclists off the road, make East Lawther one-way northbound, forcing the riders onto the trail, that has no reasonable connection to the road there.

Of course, if they were riding on the road, others would say "why don't you ride on the bike trail over there?".
I should follow them on my scooter. That'd be fun.
